Ashford and District Rifle Club can offer a wide range of shooting opportunities for all ages. From air gun to archery, small-bore rifle to full-bore rifle, most preferences can be accommodated. The Club has invested in a variety of guns and other shooting equipment to cover all disciplines so that you do not have to spend large amounts of money at the outset only to find that six months down the line the initial enthusiasm has evaporated. All relevant types of ammunition are also available through the Club at reasonable prices. Targets are currently provided free of charge.
Probationary membership of the Club (which lasts for at least 6 months) is currently a one-off fee of £25 for adults and £12.50 for children and concessions. Each time you shoot during your probationary membership period there is a charge of £5 for adults and £2.50 for children and concessions (except in respect of full-bore rifle shoots on Military Ranges at Hythe and Lydd).
After 6 months of regular attendance and a satisfactory shooting record you become eligible for full membership (subject to formal Committee approval) which currently costs £130 for adults, concessions are available for disabled, over 75's and under 18's in full time education. There is no extra charge each time you shoot once you are a full member (except in respect of full-bore rifle shoots on Military Ranges at Hythe and Lydd).
New probationary members must all undergo an “Introduction to Shooting” course and having decided which discipline they wish to follow (more than one is allowed) will initially receive one to one tuition on the “firing point” until they are considered competent, and most importantly, safe.
If you are initially uncertain as to which discipline you wish to become involved with, or merely wish to see what goes on each day, you are welcome (and encouraged) to visit all sessions.
